To let you out to a secret, some LCD TV in the market might not even have LG's contrast ratio of 1400:1 to 2000:1 .
What is 'contrast ratio' ?
I would put it as, the amount of details you can see in the darkest display, eg. movie like U571, there is a lot of dark scenes, if your LCD got a higher contrast ratio, you will be abled to see more detail in the dark rather than plain dark.

Counting down to 9 Aug..
There is this small fishing village, now it became one of the world busiest ports.
Singapore. A very young nation, less than 200 years.
Channel News Asia, last Sunday 7.30pm screen a documentary on 'the history of Singapore'.
A 3hrs documentary, made by Discovery Channel, for 2005 when Singapore celebrated her 40th years of Independance.
It was this very first episode, "Raffles' Little Child", which caught my attention.
We were taken to the earliest stage of Singapore. Honestly, a land lacking in natural resources,
yet caught Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles to making Singapore into a trading port.
If Sir Stamford Raffles is still around, we would go to celebrate National Day at his house.
He will be very much delighted to see how Singapore had become today.
No matter you are a Singaporean or not, this set of 3-DVD documentary, is a good collection to have. (I bought my DVD from LaserFlair by 'accident' , because the only link i could find online is a link to Popular Books. That day i went to LaserFlair to shop for other DVDs, intend to go Popular Books right that to look for "the History of Singapore" DVD.)
(Hope that by this time, the Discovery Channel online store is selling this DVD box set.)
It is marketed by Universal Music Singapore Limited, i was quite surprise, i do not know their relationship.
Now go and experience the awakening of the little red dot, though small but giant in trading. Again, all is like nothing but plain miracle! Singapore has survived, as of David vs Goliath, or like the Hobbits in the Lord of the Rings.
Small become big, will we continue to grow stronger and richer? The city's future is in the hands of its people.

GERMANY lost 0-2 to ITALY, ITALY manage to score 2 goals in the final period of the 30min extended time. What a waste to Germany. Therefore, the final 2 teams will be either France or Portugal, meeting Italy. No Brazil, no Germany.

LCD monitor with a VGA output can be plugged to a dvd player with a VGA inteface jack (quite similar to those plug on your VGA graphic cards). DVD player such as the ENZER E5548, which feature a VGA jack, allowing a VGA monitor to be connected. In this case, you could use a LCD monitor (preferably a Widescreen 19" and above) to watch your favourite DVD in Widescreen.

Tips and Tricks: Please set your LCD monitor to optimal resolution, before you plug it to the DVD player. You might want to adjust to its highest resolution while still connected to your PC.
By doing so, you can be sure you are viewing at maximum best resolution.
Else, the picture quality will suffer. After this, turn off your PC and connect the VGA cable to your DVD player's VGA jack/plug. Switch on DVD player, follow by the LCD monitor.
Adjust the DVD output to VGA using the DVD remote control. Now you are watching movies on a LCD monitor.
For an even more affordable setup, get a normal 17" LCD monitor. Recently, its price had fell from $399 to $299, still going down, in one year period.
If you have big bunk to throw get Samsung or LG LCD widescreen tv. A 32" will suffice, 26" or 29" also available.
